Add a contact one at a time and keep their details up to date. Each contact has its own page with their details, channels, lists and campaign activity.
Before you start: new contacts count toward your plan’s contact limit. The dashboard only offers the channels your organization has access to.

Add a contact

1

Open the panel

Go to Contacts > All Contacts and select Add Contact.
2

Enter the basics

Enter a First Name and Last Name if you have them, and an Email Address, which is required.
3

Add other channels (optional)

Under Channels, select a channel to add it: WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS, iMessage or Push.
  • Phone numbers use a country picker that starts on your organization’s country.
  • Telegram also takes an optional username.
  • iMessage takes an Apple ID and an optional phone number.
  • Push needs the push application the device uses and its device token. See Register device tokens.
Select the × on a channel to drop it again.
4

Create it

Select Create Contact. New contacts are Active. If you leave the name blank, the contact is shown by their email address.
If your organization is at its contact limit, the panel says so instead of creating the contact.

Edit a contact’s details

Open the contact, then select the pencil icon (Edit contact) under their name. The Edit Contact panel lets you change the First Name, Last Name, Timezone, Language, Status and Notes. Select Save Changes. Email addresses, phone numbers and devices aren’t edited here. Use the Channels tab instead.

Add, edit or remove channels

Open the Channels tab. It lists every identity under Reachable on, and every channel the contact has nothing for under Not connected.
  • To add one, select Add email, Add number, Add account or Add device on its channel.
  • To make one the main identity for its channel, select its pencil icon and tick Set as primary.
  • To remove one, select its bin icon and confirm.
You can’t change the address or number on an existing identity. Remove it and add the new one. See Channel identities for what each status means.

Custom fields

Custom fields hold data Brudcast has no built-in place for: a customer’s plan, their city, their renewal date. To fill one in, open the contact and select the pencil icon on the Custom Fields card on the Overview tab. Defining the fields themselves is a separate job, done once on Contacts > Custom Fields. See Custom fields for the field types, the key rules and how each field becomes a merge tag.

Tags and notes

  • Tags: under Tags in the sidebar, select Add tag. Pick an existing tag or create one. Select the × on a tag to remove it.
  • Notes: select the pencil icon on the Notes card. Notes are internal; contacts never see them.

Lists

The Lists tab shows every list the contact belongs to, with their status (Subscribed or Unsubscribed) and the dates they joined and left. Select Add to List to subscribe them to another list. To take them off a list, use the list’s own page. See Tags and lists.

Activity

The Activity tab, Campaign Activity, lists every campaign the contact was sent and what happened, newest first. The Overview tab shows the latest few under Recent Activity. Each entry shows the channel it happened on. Select Load more to see older activity. Delivery and engagement events older than 90 days drop off the timeline. The Targeted by entry for each campaign stays. When someone joins through a signup form, Brudcast keeps a consent record with their contact: the form they used, the exact wording of the consent checkbox, when they signed up and confirmed, and the IP address and browser they used. See Create a form.

Delete a contact

On the contact’s page, open the More actions menu (…), select Delete contact, then Delete Contact.
Deleting a contact is permanent. It removes their channel data and their consent records. Their email addresses stay on your suppression list if they were suppressed.
